Charity Navigator has developed a plan to iterate and expand upon our preliminary DEI ratings and will be rolling it out gradually in order to provide charities ample time to incorporate, report, and potentially improve their equity practices.

Our preliminary assessment of the nonprofit's DEI practices was developed with the expertise and advice of dozens of leaders in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors and is based on the Equity Strategies information collected through Candid's Demographics profile. The National Council of Nonprofits has compiled several resources and studies that document how effective DEI practices can help organizations cultivate staff belonging and motivation, improve management and governance practices, and spark innovation that can help nonprofits achieve their missions. There is a growing body of research which shows that effective DEI practices can promote a more positive organizational culture, which can influence the nonprofit's ability to achieve impact on the people and communities they serve. Total attendance for 2019 was 85,965 patrons at 354 performances. Attendance at The Terris Theatre was 10,597 patrons at 97 performances. During 2019 The Terris Theater in Chester CT presented three shows, 'Hi, My Name is Ben', 'Passing Through'A Connecticut Christmas Carol'. These brought students from around the world to learn about Musical Theater. They included, Scenic Painting Intensive-intro, Music Direction Intensive, Kids Company Academy and Movers Boot Camp and Observership Program. Also during 2019 several Education programs were held. Also in 2019 was the Writers Colony where 50 writers were in residence for 4 weeks to work on new musicals. Also part of the Goodspeed mission is the development of new works to add to the repertoire by such projects as, Festival of New Musicals, and the New York University Collaborative.

Attendance at the Opera House for 2019 was 75,368 patrons at 257 performances.
